On International’s Women’s Day, powerhouse presenters Kolieka Seigle, DemocraShe and Jan Strout, Montana NOW and Bozeman Cities for CEDAW Initiative, are “Bringing Global Feminism Home,” revealing the intersection of domestic policy and international policy on women’s human rights worldwide. They’ll cover such topics as advancing reproductive justice (global gag rule), constitutional equality, ending gender-based and all forms of violence against women, and U.S. and global feminist foreign policy. And they’ll answer the question, “what the heck is CEDAW?” (Hint: UN women’s human rights treaty barring all forms of discrimination against women, ratified by nearly all the world’s countries, but not the U.S.!)
Also presenting will be Prasidha Padmanabhan, a student who founded and leads Women for Education, Advocacy and Rights (WEAR), an organization created to combat sexism and fight for women’s rights, and convinced her large Virginia school system to include more women’s history, especially women of color’s history, in the curriculum
