We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to The Gail Awards for their incredible support in raising $20,362.12 to go to the Fund for Women’s Equality and our work of promoting equality for all.
Their recognition and advocacy have been invaluable in our mission to make a positive impact on society. We are honored to have worked with the Gail Awards for the first of what we hope are many awards seasons to come, and we look forward to continuing our work of creating a world where everyone is treated with dignity and respect.
A special thank you to Matthew Schaffer for his thoughtfulness and diligence in making the Gail Awards the most GIVING of industry awards. We are honored to have been the recipient of the funds raised this year in honor of Matthew’s mother, for whom the awards are named.
All the labor of creating and hosting the website, designing the awards, and judging the entries was donated to the cause, so that 100% of the proceeds could support the issue of sex equality – a cause Matthew’s mother cared about deeply.
As of 2023, it is the only show that donates its proceeds.
The idea for The Gail Awards came from the opportunity to celebrate creativity while donating the entry fees directly to a good cause.
I named it in memory of my mom, Gail, who was an artist and teacher who cared deeply about the mission it supports. She would have loved the spirit and intent behind the awards.
The goal is to bring together folks from all experience levels and backgrounds to have honest conversations about compelling work, while supporting equal rights.
I’d like to extend my appreciation to everyone who reached out with questions, support, advice, and encouragement. As I continue to build this plane as I fly it, I’m here to listen, adjust and speak to anyone who is interested in making the The Gail Awards the best it can be.
