DESCRIPTION:There’s We Persist March in DC from noon-2:00 pm on August 26\nLink to that event: https://mobilize.us/s/3V1yaw\nIntersection of Constitution NW & Pennsylvania Av\, ending at Area 9 on 1st Street SE.\nThe organizer is working with the police to have a permit. Police officers helped to design the route and protest so that it should receive a permit. Please follow the instructions of the organizer and police.\n\nWomen’s Equality Day demonstration:\n\n1) To maintain and exert our right to peaceful assembly and political demonstration as guaranteed by the 1st Amendment.\n\n2) To create CLEAR OPTICS about the power divide and that peaceful demonstration on public sidewalks and federal public spaces (which belong to the people) should NOT be marred by partisan state terrorism and the inappropriate use of the National Guard against posse comitatus.\n\n3) The city police and local forces hold the power and the responsibility for maintaining peace and orderly assembly in their local jurisdiction.\n\n4) The demand is Women’s Equality\, equal rights\, and non-partisan protection under the law.\n\n5) The impact is to reinforce non-partisan law enforcement and PROFESSIONALISM in those tasked and hired by City and State Taxpayers who funded city and state police to keep local city\, county\, and state jurisdictions safe from CRIME not against free and peaceful assembly and free and peaceful speech.\n\n6) 8/26 is a DEMONSTRATION at strategic sites of power — across from the Supreme Court — that hold the rights of women in its hands and was built on top of the Women’s Political Party’s building.\n\nWomen in Handmaids Tale or Real Life/Comic Book Heroine Costumes on WOMEN’S EQUALITY DAY will give women a chance to express their hopes\, dreams\, and grievances. Let’s have some fun for a cause instead. We simply invite you to wear your ERA t-shirts\, buttons or stickers – be seen and take pictures for social media. Invite or start the conversation about the need for an Equal Right Amendment on the ballot. We are going to make this happen and nothing beats one-on-one conversation and where better to start than the Great Minnesota Get Together!\n\nWe’ve created a fun scavenger hunt to get you started. We hope you enjoy it. Please tag us on social media posts if you go. Not on social media? Please send them to us and we’ll post them.\n\nERAMN State Fair Scavenger Hunt\n\n1. Talk to a legislator about passing the ERA Bill. (Visit the back of the Education Building and/or a political party booth.)\n\n2. Visit the Fan Central to get a picture with a woman athlete.\n\n3. Check out the crop art and get a picture of the work that is most poignant to you.\n\n4. Show some love to public radio by visiting a public radio station\, such as Minnesota Public Radio or visit the AMPERS booth in the Education Building.\n\n5. Need a healthy treat? Taste the new MN apples in the Horticulture building. Which is your favorite?\n\n6. Pet a pig\, cow\, hen or alpaca down by the barns. (By pet\, we mean get a picture.)\n\n7. Support local music by finding a show and listening to a song or two. Get a photo or video.\n\n8. Find a feminist 4H project and share it with the world on social media.\n\n9. Get a picture of as many folks in ERA MN garb as possible and share it online and please tag ERAMN.\n\n10. High Five a “That’s Not Fair!” red t-shirt volunteer standing near the GOP to explain recent tax cuts for billionaires.\n\nJoin us in person on the 26th at 1:00 in front of the Education Building or do the Scavenger Hunt on your own time anytime during the fair.
